ABOUT EIRENE
This small group of five singers brings a fresh, organic approach to Eastern Orthodox liturgical music, combining studious respect for received chant traditions with a natural, youthful vocal style and artistic expression.
Eirene (pronounced i-REE-nee) repertoire includes original 'through-composed' pieces, Slavic-style four part harmony, and authentic Byzantine chant in both English and Greek.
Whether you are new to the Orthodox musical traditions or you are a seasoned collector, you are sure to enjoy this group. Their name means 'peace' in Greek - a quality that permeates Eirene's sound and forms the backbone of their philosophy.
Look for their debut CD 'Spring: Hymns of Lent, Holy Week and Pascha' available later in 2010, and be sure to get your copy of their advance mini-CD 'A Spring Sampler', featuring eight tracks from the Spring CD, at the Archangel Marketplace!
There will be a performance on Wednesday, July 28 at 7:00 pm! This event is free and open to the public, don't miss it!
